Songkalwari Fish Sanctuary

The pioneering fish sanctuary is located in village Rombagre in West Garo Hills. Created in river Simsang, the sanctuary covers an area of 0.1 hectare and is also known as Rombagre Fish Sanctuary. The sanctuary cultures number of indigenous breeds of fish in the natural water body. Helping to grow the population of fish, the sanctuary is maintained mostly by locals with assistance and guidance from Govt. of Meghalaya. On date, there are few more such fish sanctuaries growing in the line of Rombagre fish sanctuary. The sanctuary is accessible through Dudhnoi in Goalpara district of Assam.
